• The Carracci Gallery in the Farnese Palace: from its creation to the restoration of 2013-2015.

  The restoration of the Carracci Gallery in the Farnese Palace that was completed in 2015 provides the occasion to take stock of our knowledge of the painted and sculpted decoration, and to reinterpret the details.

  Guillaume Kientz's essay recapitulates the point of view of the art historian and clarifies certain elements of the chronology, as well as providing new indications for the interpretation of the decoration, in light of observations resulting from the restored state.

  Colette di Matteo's essay presents the problematic of the site, argued in part in light of new research into the history of the restoration of the gallery, its paintings, as well as the sculptures in stucco and the gilding.
