Resumen de Neptis Imperatoris Constantinopolitani.: Les vicissituds d'un parentiu equívoc

Aquest article examina l’ús de la paraula llatina neptis en les fonts historiogràfiques i en la documentació dels regnes hispànics medievals amb l’objecte d’establir que el seu significat equívoc –néta o neboda– ha estat determinant per donar legitimitat a la versió sobre la vida d’Eudòcia Comnena de Montpeller difosa per la col∙lecció de vides i razós dels trobadors occitans i pel Llibre dels Fets del rei Jaume el Conqueridor.

This article examines the use of the Latin word neptis by the historiographical sources and documents of the medieval Spanish kingdoms in order to establish that its ambiguous significance – granddaughter or niece – was crucial to legitimate the version of the life of Eudokia Comnene of Montpellier which was disseminated by the collection of the Lives and the razós of the Occitan troubadours and by the Book of the Deeds of King James I of Aragon.
