Abstract
En 2009, la Autoridad de Antigüedades de Israel descubrió una sinagoga en el asentamiento judío de Magdala, en la costa occidental del Mar de Galilea, un yacimiento en el que actualmente continúan vigentes los trabajos de excavación arqueológica. Los restos artísticos que presenta la sinagoga, datada a principios del siglo I e.c., resaltan por su singularidad, destacando especialmente los restos de pintura mural hallados in situ, caso de estudio de esta tesis doctoral. A través del análisis y la metodología interdisciplinar se realizará el primer acercamiento al contexto histórico del asentamiento en su principal ocupación, del siglo II a.e.c. hasta el siglo I e.c., momento en el que fue abandonada su sinagoga y la población se desplazó hacia la zona más al sur del sitio, cercana a la costa. Además del análisis de los textos históricos y literario-religiosos próximos a la época de estudio que se aborda, se implementa la novedad de los estudios físico-químicos de los restos de pintura mural de la sinagoga de Magdala y su comparabilidad analítica con otros emplazamientos coetáneos, para reconstruir el escenario cultural del antiguo asentamiento judío de Magdala...
In 2009, the Israel Antiquities Authority discovered a synagogue in the Jewish settlement in Magdala, in the western coast of the See of Galilee, a site where archaeological excavation work is still taking place. The artistic remains of the synagogue, dated at the beginning of the 1st century B.C., stand out for their uniqueness, with special emphasis on the remains of wall paintings found in situ, case study for this doctoral thesis. Through interdisciplinary analysis and methodology, the first approach to the historical context of the site in its main occupation will be made, from 2nd century B.C. to the 1st century B.C., moment in which the synagogue was abandoned and the population relocated to the area further south of the site, near the coast. In addition to the analysis of historical and literary-religious texts close to the period of study being addressed, the novelty of physical-chemical studies of the remains of wall paintings in the Magdala synagogue is implemented and its analytical comparability with other contemporary sites, in order to reconstruct the cultural scenario of the ancient Jewish settlement in Magdala...
