Abstract
O artigo se propõe a investigar os instrumentos de desenho à disposição dos projetistas da arquitetura barroca por meio, principalmente, da análise da literatura técnica em circulação na época. Ao mesmo tempo, busca compreender melhor as máquinas arquitetônicas que foram utilizadas na construção dos diversos prédios do barroco brasileiro, com ênfase na região dos Missionários Jesuítas do Rio Grande do Sul e também no estado de Minas Gerais. Essas especulações sobre os instrumentos e máquinas à disposição dos projetistas barrocos são entendidas como indispensáveis para o correto enfrentamento do tema ¿do risco à construção¿ na perspectiva da cultura material em seus vínculos com a história da arquitetura. Nesse sentido, a questão da tensão pós-renascentista entre projeto versus construção constitui um pano de fundo em toda a discussão proposta.
The article proposes to investigate the drawing instruments available to designers of Baroque architecture through, mainly, the analysis of the technical literature in circulation at the time. At the same time, it seeks to understand the architectural machines that were used in the construction of the many 260 Brazilian Baroque buldings, with an emphasis on the Jesuit Missionary region of Rio Grande do Sul and also in the state of Minas Gerais. These speculations about the instruments and machines at the disposal of Baroque designers are understood as indispensable for the correct understanding of the theme ¿from design to construction¿ from the perspective of material culture through its relations with the history of architecture. In this direction, the issue of the post-Renaissance tension between project versus construction constitutes a background in all the proposed discussion.
