La «jerarquía de verdades»: su recepción en el ecumenismo y en la teología

Abstract

La expresión «jerarquía de verdades» apareció en el Decreto Unitatis redintegratio 11, del Vaticano II. Su sentido inicial era el de servir para ordenar el diálogo ecuménico. Más tarde se puso de manifiesto su alcance hermenéutico para toda la teología. El artículo establece el status quaestionis desde su aparición en el Vaticano II, pasando por los documentos oficiales posteriores al Concilio, y su recepción en los teólogos. Finalmente se ofrecen consideraciones teológicas sobre su correcto uso en el trabajo teológico y ecuménico.

The expression «hierarchy of truths» appeared in the Second Vatican Council Decree on Ecumenism: Unitatis Redintegratio n. 11. Originally, it was aimed to establish an order in ecumenical dialogue. Later on its hermeneutical relevance for the whole theology became evident. This article analyzes the status quaestionis since its appearance in the Second Vatican Council, including official documents after the Council and the reception of the term among theologians. Finally, some theological considerations on the correct use of «hierarchy of truths» in the theological and ecumenical domain are offered.
