Retórica y milicia en un soneto de Quevedo

Abstract

Este trabajo estudia un soneto de Quevedo (Clío, XXIV) construido sobre diversos procedimientos retóricos. Los cuartetos recrean el exemplum mitológico de la rebelión del gigante Tifeo; en los tercetos, este ejemplo se pone en relación con la situación política del momento, para pedir a Felipe IV que actúe contra sus enemigos igual que Júpiter hizo con el gigante Tifeo. This work studies a sonnet by Quevedo (Clío, XXIV) constructed upon different rhetorical techniques. The quatrains recreate the mythological exemplum of the giant Tifeo; the two tercets relate this exemplum to the political situation of the period, asking Felipe IV to take action against his enemies, as Jupiter did with the giant Tifeo. This work analyses Quevedo’s way to develop plot and structure.
