Resumen de Where in the brain is intelligence? An exhaustive analysis across gray matter properties, neuroimaging protocols and matched samples
The analysis of the biological base of human cognitive abilities evoques a high interest within the scientific community. Since the publication of the P-FIT model of intelligence in 2007 (Jung and Haier, 2007) the number of research report addressing this relevant topic has grown exponentially. However, a large consensus is still awaiting confirmation.
The general approach of this PhD research is bases on the exhaustive analysis of key gray matter properties (cortical surface área, cortical thickness, and cortical gray matter volume) obtained from different neuroimaging protocols from different laboratorios. These protocols differ in several parameters relevant for obtaining the enumerated gray matter properties. The impact of these differences over the biological correlates of the analyzed psychological variables es explicitly tested in this research. This approach is critical for obtaining a strong response accounting for the widely observed discrepancies.
