La práctica curatorial en España en la actualidad se encuentra al mismo nivel y consideración que en otros contextos internacionales, no obstante, su aparición, desarrollo y consolidación se ha configurado años más tarde que en el resto de Europa o Norteamérica. El hecho de haber vivido bajo un gobierno dictatorial, sumió al país en un aislamiento que afectó a todos los aspectos del estado, así como al de toda la población y a su cotidianidad, algo que culturalmente también ser vio reflejado.
