Resumen de Función de la subunidad reguladora de PI3K, p85 alfa, en citoquinesis en mamíferos

Zaira García Fernández

  • Cytosolic division in mitotic cells involves the function of a number of proteins, whose coordination in the spatio-temporal control of cytokinesis is poorly defined. Cytokinesis requires cooperation of the tubulin, actomyosin, and septin cytoskeletons.

PI3K plays a crucial role in triggering cell division. PI3K induces two routes, of which one promotes cell growth and the other regulates cyclin dependent kinases. Fine tuned PI3K regulation is also require for later cell cycle phases.

we analyzed the mechanism by which p85 alpha regulates cytokinesis, and show that p85 alpha deletion reduced Cdc42 activation and septin 2 accumulation in the cleavage furrow. The results show that p85 alpha affects cytokinesis by controlling local Cdc42 activation and Septin concentration in the cleavage furrow, revealing a new signalling cascade in the spatial control of mammalian cytokinesis.
