Resumen de Dressing the vacuum: Strong light-matter coupling for enhancing photon correlations and exciton transport

Rocio Sáez Blázquez

  • Strong light-matter coupling enables the creation of mixed light-matter states, the so-called polaritons, whose hybrid character has been used to achieve new functionalities. Diverse applications exploit either the light or the matter component of these hybrid objects, such that excitons may benefit from their electromagnetic environment, or photons may turn the presence of matter excitations to their advantage. This thesis is devoted to the study of two phenomena emerging within the strong coupling regime where the two mentioned perspectives are addressed: (i) photon correlations are generated due to the coupling to an excitonic system, and (ii) exciton transport is enhanced due to the coupling to a photonic mode.
