ALEGORÍA, VIOLENCIA Y LENGUAJE: UN ESTUDIO SOBRE EL CRITICÓN DE BALTASAR GRACIÁN.

RESUMEN El estudio de Baltasar Gracián no ha constituido uno de los centros de atención nítidos de la historia de la filosofía realizada en la universidad española. Esta tesis parte de distintos estudios sobre la cultura del Barroco europeo y latinoamericano (Wölflflin, D´ors, Sarduy, Echeverría, Maravall) y sobre el pensamiento de Gracián, identificando la oportunidad de reconocer en una obra como El Criticón un paradigma de diagnóstico del presente revestido de clara actualidad. El planteamiento de la tesis pretende contribuir a dibujar una lectura de la obra graciana en clave prioritariamente filosófica, un camino ciertamente poco transitado teniendo en cuenta el estado actual de la investigación.
El análisis se organiza en torno a tres cuestiones relevantes para vehiculizar el análisis del pensamiento de Gracián: la alegoría, la violencia y el lenguaje. Para cada una de estas cuestiones, se selecciona como referente de la discusión a un pensador que genera cierta impresión de anacronismo que atraviesa la tesis: W. Benjamin, R. Girard y E. Laclau funcionan como llamadas de atención acerca de la proximidad que la evaluación graciana de la historia, del hecho social y del discurso mantiene con los problemas propios del presente. Al igual que estos autores, Baltasar Gracián se muestra como un pensador de la crisis, cuyo diagnóstico de la realidad humana sigue siendo totalmente operativo actualmente.

ABSTRACT The study of Baltasar Gracián´s writings has not been one of the clear centers of attention in the history of philosophy carried out at the spanish university. This thesis is based on different studies on the culture of the European and Latin American Baroque (Wölflflin, D'ors, Sarduy, Echeverría, Maravall) and on the thought of Gracian, identifying the opportunity to recognize in a work such as El Criticón a diagnostic paradigm of the present. The approach of the thesis intends to contribute to draw a reading of the Gracian´s work in a primarily philosophical key, a path certainly little traveled according to the current state of the research in studies about Gracián´s thought.
The analysis is organized around three relevant issues to convey the analysis of Gracián's thought: allegory, violence and language. For each of these questions, a thinker is selected as a reference for the discussion, generating a certain impression of anachronism that goes through the thesis: W. Benjamin, R. Girard and E. Laclau function as calls for attention about the proximity that the Gracian´s evaluation of history, social fact and discourse maintains with the problems of the present. Like these authors, Baltasar Gracián is shown as a crisis thinker, whose diagnosis of human reality is still fully operational today.
