A difusao da violência contra idosos: um olhar psicossocial

    This study investigates the violence against the elderly from the cultural and social changes, promoted by the printed media, analyzed under the optics of the Theory of the Social Representations. By means of the software ALCESTE, twenty eight published news from the periodical Folha de São Paulo, Brazil, were analyzed and accessed by internet between 2001 and 2008. From the results emerged four thematic classes related to subordination of the elderly by governmental actions, legal norms and scientific rules, as well as domestic and institutional experiences. The highlights were the demographic indicators on population aging and the epidemiological data on violent deaths .These were the more prevalent elementary units of context in the content of the news.

    Este estudo investiga a violência contra os idosos, a partir das mudanças culturais e sociais divulgadas pela mídia impressa e analisadas sob a ótica da Teoria das Representações Sociais. Por meio da análise padrão do software ALCESTE, foram processadas 28 notícias veiculadas pelo jornal Folha de São Paulo entre 2001 e 2008 e acessadas por busca na internet. Dos resultados emergiram quatro classes temáticas, relativas à subordinação dos idosos às ações governamentais, às normas legais e aos conhecimentos científicos, além de suas vivências domésticas e institucionais.

    Destacaram-se os indicadores demográficos sobre o envelhecimento populacional e os dados epidemiológicos sobre as mortes por causas violentas, que foram as unidades de contexto mais prevalentes no conteúdo das notícias.
