Boise Basques: dreamers and doers

Información General

Resumen

  • The Basque community in Boise enjoys a series of features which makes it quite unique. There is no other place in the world where one can walk down a street paved with stones engraved with the family names of Basques who have settled in this area since the late nineteenth century. This is a tribute to the ancestors of hundreds of families who have seen their dream come true with this semi-pedestrianized street dedicated to culture and entertainment. It is precisely on Grove Street, on what is known as the Basque Block, where the most important Basque institutions are located, from the Basque Center on the corner (refurbished in the seventies), to the erstwhile Cyrus Jacobs-Uberuaga boarding house (now part of the museum).
