Up to the present time no other study of Roman sumptuary art had been carried out that was able to bring together most known materials (i.e. terracotta, jewelry, bronze, bone, glass, iron, lead, silver, decorative ceramics, marble or stone). The studies had been limited to specifically deal with one of these materials, for example decorated bronze, statuary or ceramic. This investigation has been divided into two blocks, the first one referring to the characteristics and sources of sumptuary arts. In the second one, the typology of the pieces and their iconographic analysis are described. Besides, it evaluates them from the technical, stylistic and chronological point of view. This second block is in itself a coloured graphical and descriptive catalogue of the sumptuary documented items in the studied territory under study, the northern part of the Valencian Community.
