    Meta, revista internacional fundada hace más de cincuenta años y editada por Les Presses de l�Université de Montréal, se internacionalizó rápidamente bajo la dirección de André Clas. Con Sylvie Vandaele al frente desde 2009, Meta prosigue su misión de difundir artículos originales sobre traducción e interpretación, incluidas las perspectivas terminológica y lingüística. Fue una de las primeras revistas en publicar artículos sobre traducción especializada, con un texto pionero sobre traducción farmacéutica que se remonta a 1967 y dos números monográficos dedicados a la traducción médica que datan de 1974 y 2001, además de numerosos artículos sueltos publicados a lo largo de su historia. ¿Cómo se presenta el futuro? Formulamos la hipótesis de que el acceso a numerosos textos antes reservados a los investigadores y los profesionales sanitarios, unido al creciente interés por la traducción especializada, propiciará un auge de la investigación en este campo, y Meta estará ahí para dar fiel testimonio de ello.

    Meta, an international journal launched more than 50 years ago and published by the �Presses de l�Université de Montréal�, took on an international character quite rapidly under the direction of André Clas. With Sylvie Vandaele at the helm since 2009, Meta pursues its mission of disseminating original articles about translation and interpretation, including aspects bearing on terminology and linguistics. It was one of the first journals to publish articles about specialized translation with a pioneer text about pharmaceutical translation dating back to 1967 and two monographs on medical translation from 1974 and 2001, in addition to a number of separate articles published throughout its existence. What does the future hold in store? We hypothesize that access to many texts that were formerly available only to researchers and to health professionals, together with a growing interest in specialized translation, will trigger a surge in research in this area, and Meta will be there to faithfully record it.Key words:
