La presente comunicación se focalizará en una de las comunidades de «extranjeros» que hallaron en el ámbito militar español del siglo XVIII un espacio de participación e integración: los irlandeses. Con tal fin se analizará uno de los regimientos de tal nación, el Irlanda, a través de un conjunto de noventa hojas de servicio titulado Regimiento de Infantería de Irlanda. Libro de oficiales, sargentos primeros y cadetes del regimiento, arreglado hacia fines de 1774, documento alojado en el Archivo General de Simancas. Se hará hincapié en tres aspectos: las trayectorias militares en común, los sitios de las batallas o enfrentamientos y la inclusión de efectivos provenientes de otras naciones (italianos y franceses, entre otros).
This communication will focus on one of the communities of «foreigners» who found a space for participation and integration in the Spanish military of the 18th century: the Irish. To this end, one of the regiments of that nation, el Irlanda, will be analyzed through a set of ninety service records entitled Regimiento de Infan-tería de Irlanda. Libro de oficiales, sargentos primeros y cadetes del regimiento, arreglado hacia fines de 1774, document housed in the General Archive of Simancas. Emphasis will be placed on three aspects: the common military trajectories, the sites of the battles or confrontations and the inclusion of troops from other nations (Italians and French, among others).
