In this paper we analyze the account of the Sevillian doctor Gaspar Caldera de Heredia about the «riot of the Fair» that broke out in Seville on 22 May, 1652. Beginning with an approach to the figure of the author, we study the philosophical-political reflections expressed by Caldera regarding this event, framing them in the tacit political thought. Likewise, we examine the experiences collected in his memoirs, confronting them with the information extracted from other chro-nicles and news about the riot. Our objective is to value the importance of Caldera’s text to understand the development of the Sevillian revolt and the practices and interpretations of popular discontent.
