Resumen de La figura del rey en Cataluña: la concepción de la realeza desde Juan II a Felipe I

En este trabajo se sintetizan algunos de los aspectos más importantes de la rea-leza, tal como era concebida por las que, junto a la propia corona, eran las dos principales instituciones de la Cataluña bajomedieval y moderna: la Diputació del General y el Consell de Cent de Barcelona. Abarcando un arco cronológico que cubre los reinados de Juan II (1458-1479) hasta el de Felipe I (1556-1598), se estudia el lenguaje político reflejado en distinta documentación institucional mediante una mirada que, atenta a la retórica y a los vocablos más repetidos, permite interpretar las convenciones que dan sustento a las figuras típicas del rey como cabeza del cuerpo político, como juez y como padre.

The aim of this paper is to summarise some of the most important features of kingship, as it was conceived by those that, together with the crown itself, were the two main institutions in late medieval and early modern Catalonia: the Diputació del General, and the Consell de Cent of Barcelona. Spanning a cronology that covers the reign of John II (1458-1479) to that of Philip I (1556-1598), the political language of different institutional documentation is analysed from a perspective that, focusing on rhetorics and the most common words, enables to interpret the conventions supporting the typical figures of the king as the head of the political body, as a judge, and as a father.
