Los corregidores y alcaldes mayores fueron los representantes de la Monarquía encargados de dirigir un territorio concreto. Al frente de sus respectivas jurisdicciones se encargaron de evaluar la situación general de sus ámbitos de actuación, desde la economía hasta la infraestructura y edificaciones, y llevaron a cabo medidas y propusieron otras que no les dio tiempo a ejecutar para mejorar el estado en que se encontraban. En este trabajo se pretende estudiar las carreras de los diversos individuos que sirvieron en las varas albacetenses y varias de las iniciativas que llevaron a cabo. A partir de este doble enfoque, su experiencia y sus actos, trataremos de reconstruir desde qué marcos optaron por una propuesta y no por otra y las diversas influencias y límites, legales o intelectuales, en los que tuvieron que encajar.

The corregidores and alcaldes mayores were the representatives of the monarchy in charge of running a specific territory. At the head of their respective jurisdictions, they were responsible for assessing the general situation of their areas of action, from the economy to the infrastructure and buildings, and they carried out mea-sures and proposed others that they did not have time to implement in order to improve the state they were in. The aim of this paper is to study the careers of the various individuals who served in the Albacete varas and several of the initiatives they carried out. From this dual approach, their experience and their actions, we will try to reconstruct from which frameworks they opted for one proposal and not another and the various influences and limits, legal or intellectual, in which they had to fit.
