Resumen de La mirada de l’altre, viatgers britànics a Inca (s. XVIII-XX)

  From the 18th century to the first decades of the 20th century, the Balearic Islands were the chosen setting for scholars and intellectuals to make their travels. Among these European travelers, the British were a prominent group. Although Inca was left out of the great itineraries that were made on the island at the time, none of this was an impediment for some of these travelers to get there. The intention of this communication is to identify the different travelers who during these centuries approached to Inca and collect their testimonies. Analyze their works in order to know and review the image they give of the city, on the one hand to bring them all together in one work and on the other hand to be able to approach the vision and information they offer us of the municipality.

  Des del segle XVIII fins a les primeres dècades del segle XX, les Balears foren l’escenari escollit per erudits i il·lustrats per realitzar els seus viatges. Entre aquests viatgers europeus, els britànics van ser un grup destacat. Tot i que Inca va quedar-se fora dels grans itineraris que aleshores es realitzaven a l’illa, res d’això no va ser impediment perquè alguns d’aquests viatgers hi arribassin. La intenció de la present comunicació és identificar els diferents viatgers que durant aquests segles s’acostaren fins a Inca i recollir els seus testimonis. Analitzar les seves obres per tal de conèixer i revisar la imatge que en elles es dona de la ciutat, d’una banda, per reunir-los tots en un mateix treball i, de l’altra, per poder aproximar-nos a la visió i la informació que ens ofereixen del municipi.
