El artículo estima el comportamiento pluviométrico en Sevilla durante el siglo XVI. En particular, se destaca el periodo 1519-1522, coincidente con el primer viaje de circunvalación al mundo Elcano-Magallanes (cuyo inicio y fin fue el puerto fluvial del Guadalquivir en Sevilla) del que se cumplen 500 años. Se describen los condicionantes urbanos de la ciudad ante riesgos climáticos y se utiliza la información documental recogida en distintas fuentes históricas acerca de los sucesos más relevantes de origen meteorológico.

This article estimates the behavior of the weather in Seville during the 16th century. In particular, the period between 1519-1522, which coincides with the first circumvallation of the globe by Elcano Magallanes. The beginning and end of said voyage was the river port of Seville, exactly 500 years ago this year.
The urban conditions of the city in the face of climatic risks are described and documentary information, collected from different historical sources, details the most relevant weather. This enables us to examine the climate history within the context of the general history of the city. Moreover, the environmental and social impact of floods are reported, as well as the effects on the population during periods of drought. In conclusion, all this has made it possible to establish a risk scale and generate the comparative chronology of rainfall during the 16th century.
