    This article aims to analyze the different versions about the founding of Florence to understand how political interests interfere in the writing of history, providing different accounts of the same event. First, it discusses the different perspectives on the origin of the city written prior the works of Leonardo Bruni and Nicolau Machiavelli to, later, analyze the way in which these two authors told the episodes. Finally, it examines the political implications involving the writing ofeachofthem.

    Este artigo pretende analisar as diferentes versões sobre a fundação de Florença para entender como os interesses políticos interferem na escrita da história e proporcionam diferentes relatos sobre o mesmo acontecimento. Primeiro, discute-se as perspectivas sobre a origem da cidade que foram elaboradas antes dos trabalhos de Leonardo Bruni e Nicolau Maquiavel para, em seguida, analisar a forma como estes dois autores contaram os episódios. Por fim, examina-se as implicações políticas envolvendo a escrita de cada um deles.
