Resumen de Comportamentos e atitudes dos jovens face às infecções sexualmente transmissiveis

  É durante a adolescência e na primeira etapa da fase adulta que ocorre o maior número de casos de Infeções Sexualmente Transmissíveis. O estudo dos comportamentos sexuais em jovens assume por isso um papel relevante. Com o objetivo de perceber quais as variáveis determinantes nos comportamentos e atitudes sexuais, face às Infeções Sexualmente Transmissíveis (IST´s) desenvolveu-se uma investigação a partir de uma amostra de 639 jovens do ensino superior, 57,6% são do sexo feminino, 42,4% do sexo masculino, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e 24 anos. Os resultados mostraram que 74,8% já tiveram relações sexuais e 96,4% referiram utilizar um método contracetivo, no entanto o preservativo é utilizado apenas por 64,1% dos jovens. O estudo revelou ainda que o sexo dos inquiridos, o facto de terem ou não namorado(a), de terem tido ou não relações sexuais e a sua religião são fatores determinantes nas suas atitudes face à prevenção de IST.

  It is during adolescence and in the first stage of adulthood that occurs a large number of cases of Sexually Transmitted Infections. The study of sexual behaviours in youngsters therefore assumes a relevant role. With the purpose of understanding the determining variables in the behaviours and sexual attitudes towards the Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) it has been developed developed a research based on a sample of 639 higher education students, 57.6% female and 42.4% male, aged between 18 and 24 years. The results have shown that 74.8% had sexual intercourse and 96.4% reported using a contraceptive method, however the condom is only used by 64.1%. The study also revealed that the gender of the participants, the fact of having or not boyfriend/ girlfriend, whether or not they have had sex and their religion are determining factors in the attitudes of youngsters towards the prevention of STIs.
