Tanto en razón del derecho a aplicar (la Constitución), como de los actos de los poderes públicos sobre los que este derecho singularmente se aplica (las leyes parlamentarias), la jurisdicción constitucional, presenta una serie de caracteres que hacen de ella una función constitucional claramente diferenciada de la jurisdicción llamada ordinaria. Esta circunstancia permite preguntarse por las cualidades que idealmente debieran reunir las personas a las que se encomienda el ejercicio de esta relevante función constitucional. Con la imagen de fondo del juez de la cultura del derecho común, y con la vista puesta en el llamado modelo europeo de control de constitucionalidad el presente escrito intenta ofrecer una primera respuesta a esta pregunta.

Both in terms of the law to be applied (the Constitution) and the acts of the public authorities to which it is called to be applied (parliamentary laws), the constitutional jurisdiction shows a unique profile that clearly differentiates it from the so-called ordinary jurisdiction.
This raises the question of the singular characteristics that the persons entrusted with the exercise of this constitutional function should ideally possess. Against the backdrop of the ideal image of the judge of the common law culture, and having in view the so-called European model of constitutional adjudication, this paper attempts a first answer to the question.
