Resumen de Modelos cosmológicos medievales

Maravillas Aguiar Aguilar

  • Throughout the whole of the Middle Ages and virtually up to the 16th century the cosmos was conceived along the lines of the so-called Ptolemaic model. Its principles remained practically unaltered for centuries, although there also existed various cosmology theories that endeavoured to correct and explain the model’s shortcomings, which revealed a discrepancey between theory and astronomical observation. In thes article we will examine how some of these cosmological models arose and outline thir main elements. particular attention will be given to the contributions made by the Arab world.
