Resumen de La dote matrimonial en el colectivo platero valenciano de la época foral

A través de las referencias documentales relativas a capitulaciones matrimoniales, cartas dotales o nupciales se puede apreciar que, en época foral, el régimen económico matrimonial adoptado por la gran mayoría del colectivo platero valenciano fue el sistema dotal, en el que la dote fue el elemento esencial en su constitución, junto a un elemento subsidiario de ésta –pero de gran trascendencia jurídico-social– como es el aumento de dote, conocido como creix o augmentum. La dote debía ser restituida cuando el matrimonio era disuelto, bien por defunción de uno de los cónyuges, bien por separación, que venía a ocurrir en los casos de huida del marido. Through the documentary references related to marriage dowry or nuptial letters, it can be seen that, in the foral period, the economic matrimonial regim adopted by the great majority of the Valencian silversmith collective was the dowry system, in which the dowry was the essential element in its constitution, together with a subsidiary element of this –but of great legal-social importance– such as the increase in dowry, known as creix or augmentum. The dowry had to be returned when the marriage was dissolved, either due to the death of one of the spouses, or due to separation, which would occur in cases of the husband’s flight. In addition, the situation of widows was also included in this matrimonial system in order to protect their assets against a new marriage.
