En el texto se analiza cómo en el cambio del siglo XIX al XX, la expansión de las vías del ferrocarril alteró las dinámicas de centralidad y marginalidad entre diversos lugares del norte de México. Centrándose en el transporte en la región de los valles de Durango, en el estado del mismo nombre, en donde a partir de la llegada de las locomotoras y la conexión con los mercados estadounidenses y del resto de México, dicha región fue perdiendo cada vez más relevancia económica en favor de La Comarca Lagunera, mientras que al interior de los valles se alteraron las relaciones de poder entre los miembros de la élite local y entre éstos y el gobierno federal; al mismo tiempo que aumentaban los conflictos por límites de tierra.

The text analyzes how in the change from the 19th to the 20th century, the expansion of the railroad tracks altered the dynamics of centrality and marginality between various places in northern Mexico. Focusing the transport in the region of the valleys of Durango, in the state of the same name, where from the arrival of the locomotives and the connection with the US markets and the rest of Mexico, this region was losing more and more relevance economic in favor of La Comarca Lagunera, while within the valleys power relations among members of the local elite and between them and the federal government were altered; at the same time that conflicts over land limits increased.
