  En ocasiones figuras de gran valor no reciben la atención que en realidad se merecen siendo delegados a un segundo plano. Es el caso de Don Juan Yánez Espín, medido, humanista, hombre de letras e historiador de gran relevancia dentro del ámbito cultural, económico, religioso y social de Cehegín en el siglo XVII. Aun así, no se posee ninguna obra suya quedándonos únicamente documentos médicos firmados por él y citas de sus libros en otros documentos. Al pertenecer a una familia adinerada pudo estudiar en la Universidad de Salamanca y acceder a los círculos más influyentes de la época permitiéndole convertirse en una de las personas más cultas del momento.

  Sometimes figures of great value do not receive the attention they really deserve by being delegated to the background. This is the case of Don Juan Yánez Espín, doctor, humanist, man of letters and historian of great relevance within the cultural, economic, religious, and social sphere of Cehegín in the XVII century. Even so, we do not have any of his Works, leaving only medical documents signed by him and cites from his books in other documents. Belonging to an affluent family, he was able to study at the University of Salamanca and gain Access to the most influential circles of the time, allowing him to become one of the most cultured people of the moment.
