«La grande voix», a narrative published in Le Digamma in 2012, tells of the amazement of the narrator at hearing a woman’s voice singing in a church assembly in England. Her voice reminds him of a possible life that humanity seldom reaches. Wanting to bear witness of what he heard, the narrator later imagines an encounter in a brief fiction. This paper aims at analysing the paradox of choosing fiction to tell an encounter, as fiction for Yves Bonnefoy, far from bringing closer, risks locking up in an image. Nonetheless, here, only fiction can attest the dream heard in this voice, a desire to get closer to others.
