Durante los siglos V y VI, los suevos establecieron en la Gallaecia el primer regnum independiente de Roma. Para legitimarse ante la población local optaron por imitar los modelos imperiales. Dentro de estas formas poder, el establecimiento de las sedes regiae fue un fenómeno que se produjo en toda Europa. En este Trabajo de Fin de Máster son objeto de estudio las dos sedes con las que contaron los suevos: Mérida y Braga. Este estudio tratará de poner en relación todos los elementos materiales conocidos para entenderlos a la luz de los mecanismos ideológicos de la imitatio imperii.
During the 5th and 6th centuries, the Suevi established the first regnum independent of Rome in Gallaecia. To legitimise themselves in the eyes of the local population, they chose to imitate imperial models. Within these forms of power, the establishment of sedes regiae was a phenomenon that occurred throughout Europe. In this Master’s thesis, we will study the two seats of power that the Suevi had: Merida and Braga. This study will attempt to relate all the known material elements to understand them in the light of the ideological mechanisms of the imitatio imperii.
