Resumen de Tot dibuixant la ratlla: la frontera occitanocatalana al llarg del segle XIX

Aquest article analitza les manifestacions explícites sobre la identitat de la llengua catalana i —més concretament, sobre la relació que mantenia amb l’occità— durant el segle XIX van produir-se als territoris de la catalanofonia al sud dels Pirineus. Partint de les cartografies fetes a començaments del segle XX, el treball ofereix una mirada retrospectiva de com, des de la gramàtica de Ballot (c. 1815), els gramàtics i lexicògrafs catalans, valencians, mallorquins i menorquins havien presentat, en llurs obres, la frontera entre el català i l’occità. Es conclou que la idea general d’aquestes obres és que el català i l’occità són dues llengües diferents amb una frontera clara. Els únics autors que divergeixen d’aquesta opinió ho fan per motius ideològics, i no pas lingüístics.

This paper analyses explicit manifestations about the identity of Catalan — and, more precisely, about the relationship between this language and Occitan— that throughout the 19th century were produced on Catalan speaking territories on the South of the Pyrenees. Starting from the maps done at the beginning of the 20th century, the word offers a retrospective look of the way how, since the grammar of Ballot (c. 1815), catalan, valencian, maiorcan, and minorcan grammars and lexicographers had presented, in their works, the border between Catalan and Occitan. It is concluded that the general idea of these works is Catalan and Occitan are two different languages, with a clear border. Only a few authors diverge from this opinion, but by ideological arguments, not linguistic ones.
