La regla de la triple paridad ha sido un criterio, no positivizado, de distribución de escaños por islas o circunscripciones, con el tiempo polémico por la sobrerrepresentación que suponía para las islas no capitalinas, que ha presidido el sistema electoral canario durante más de treinta y seis años. Desde su orígenes, con el primer Estatuto de Autonomía de Canarias de 1982, hasta la reciente reforma de este en 2018. El presente trabajo expone sus antecedentes seculares, su génesis en los albores de la autonomía canaria, su problemática y argumentario y, finalmente, la nueva regulación del legislador estatuyente y ordinario que confirma su desaparición.

The triple parity rule was a not positivized criterion, settled to decide the distribution of seats by islands or constituencies, which has regulated the Canary Islands electoral system for more than thirty-six years from its origins, with the first Statute of Autonomy of the Canary Islands in 1982, to its recent reform in 2018. This rule became controversial over the years due to the over-representation it entailed for the non-capital islands. This paper sets out its secular background, its genesis at the dawn of Canary Islands autonomy, its problems and argumentation and, finally, the new regulation of the statutory and ordinary legislator that confirms its disappearance.
