El concepto de gestus es sin duda una de las mayores aportaciones del pensamiento de Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956) al teatro. Su carácter revolucionario se manifiesta en sus amplias posibilidades de configuración estética y formal, como principal articulador del efecto de distanciamiento. El gestus social denuncia contradicciones, presenta el comportamiento humano en su relación de poder y opresión, de lucha y liberación, de posibilidades de transformación. Este artículo pretende, a través de un análisis histórico, materialista y dialéctico, presentar el gestus social en su configuración épico-dialéctica, en todos los ámbitos del teatro: dramaturgia, puesta en escena y creación actoral

The concept of gestus is certainly one of the greatest con-tributions of Bertolt Brecht's (1898-1956) thinking to the theater. Its revolutionary character is manifested in its wide possibilities of aesthetic configuration, as the main articulator of the distancing effect. The social gestus denounces contradictions, presents human behavior in its relationship of power and oppression, of struggle and liberation, of possibilities of transformation This article intends, through a historical, dialectical and materialistic analysis, to present the social gestus in its dialectical and narrative configuration, in all areas of theatre: dramaturgy, staging and actor creation
