CALIDAD DE VIDA EN PACIENTES SOMETIDOS A TRATAMIENTOS DE REHABILITACIÓN ORAL EN LA UNIVERSIDAD SANTO TOMÁS EN BUCARAMANGA

    Objetivo: determinar la relación entre los tratamientos de rehabilitación oral y la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud oral de las personas que los han recibido.Materiales y métodos: se realizó un estudio analítico de corte transversal en el que se aplicó la versión corta de un cuestionario de Calidad de Vida Relacionado con la Salud Oral (CVRSO) denominado OHIP-sp a 262 personas que habían recibido tratamiento de rehabilitación oral en las Clínicas Odontológicas de la Universidad Santo Tomás en pre y posgrado, en Bucaramanga. Se obtuvieron frecuencias y proporciones para las variables cualitativas, medidas de tendencia central y dispersión para las cuantitativas. La relación entre la CVRSO y las demás variables de interés se estableció mediante el test de Rangos de Wilcoxon, el test de ANOVA y la prueba t de Student.Resultados: el promedio de edad de la población evaluada fue de 48,7 ± 13,0 años. No se presentó una diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre el tipo de tratamiento de rehabilitación oral recibido y cada una de las siete dimensiones del OHIP-sp evaluadas. Sin embargo, sí se encontró una diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre la dimensión limitación funcional y la edad (p=0,0218) y el género (p=0,048) así como entre la edad al compararla con el dolor físico (p=0,0126) y incapacidad social (p=0,0204).Conclusiones: los pacientes con los promedios más bajos de limitación funcional fueron los que presentaban prótesis fija. Los pacientes que recibieron tratamientos de prótesis sobre implantes obtuvieron los mayores promedios de inconformidad e incapacidad psicológica.[Cruz Y, Rodríguez MJ, Penso MK, Candela AJ, Gamboa EM .     Objective: to assess the relationship between oral rehabilitation treatment and Oral Health Related Quality of Life (OHRQL) in people who attended the dental clinics at Universidad Santo Tomás in Bucaramanga (Colombia).Methods: an analytic cross-sectional study was carried out. Two hundred and sixty two people who had received oral rehabilitation treatment by undergraduate and graduate students filled out the short version the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-sp) questionnaire. All the dimensions that compound the OHIP-sp questionnaire, age, gender, type of oral rehabilitation treatment received, and socioeconomic condition were analyzed. Frequencies and proportions for qualitative variables and measures of central tendency and dispersion for quantitative variables were obtained. The relationship between OHRQL and other variables of interest was established by Wilcoxon Rank test, ANOVA and Student t test.Results: the mean age of the study population was 48.7 ± 13.0 years. It was not found a statistically significant difference between the oral rehabilitation treatment received and each one of the fourteen dimensions that the Spanish version of the OHIP had. However, a statistically significant difference was found between functional limitation and age (p = 0.0218) and gender (p = 0.048) and between the age when compared with physical pain (p = 0.0126) and social disability (p = 0.0204).Conclusions: patients with the lowest scores of functional limitation were those with fixed prostheses. Patients receiving dental implants had the highest scores of dissatisfaction and psychological disability.
