Aparecido en Valladolid en los últimos días del año 1604, el Quijote no tardó en cruzar el Atlántico. Sin embargo, tuvo que esperar casi dos siglos para marcar el Nuevo Mundo con su impronta. Este estudio examina su proyección en las letras hispanoamericanas, especialmente en las obras de Jorge Luis Borges, García Márquez y Carlos Fuentes. Al mismo tiempo, se propone mostrar cómo, en Estados Unidos, Herman Melville y Mark Twain meditaron su ejemplo, seguidos más tarde por William Faulkner y Thomas Pynchon.

Appeared in Valladolid at the end of 1604, Don Quixote soon cross the Atlantic Ocean. However, it had to wait almost two centuries to make its mark in the New World. This study examines its projection in Latin American literature, especially the works of Jorge Luis Borges, García Márquez and Carlos Fuentes. At the same time, it aims to show how, in the United States, Herman Melville and Mark Twain meditated its example, followed later by William Faulkner and Thomas Pynchon.
