Dans O Retorno (2011), roman à teneur cicatricielle où s’entrecroisent le politique, le littéraire, le psychique et l’imaginaire, l’écrivaine portugaise Dulce Maria Cardoso tisse une profonde réflexion autour de la décolonisation portugaise en Afrique et du rapatriement massif des « retornados », nous incitant à réfléchir à la condition exilique et à penser les frontières entre identité et altérité. Tout en menant une interrogation sur la violence de la séparation, elle nous montre que l’être humain peut se relever de la catastrophe et envisager de nouveaux horizons, malgré les blessures et la perte

In the novel O Retorno (2011), the Portuguese writer Dulce Maria Cardoso develops a deep reflection on the decolonization of Portuguese Africa and the massive repatriation of colonial residents (“retornados”), prompting us to think about the exilic condition and the borders between identity and otherness. While conducting an inquiry about the violence of separation, she shows us that human beings can recover from the catastrophe and consider new horizons, despite injuries and loss.
