Resumen de Castillos en el horizonte. Conservación y restauración durante el franquismo

  Después de siglos de abandono, algunos castillos es pañoles atrajeron el interés por su recuperación en el contexto del romanticismo dec imonónico. El siglo XX les dio una cierta protección legislativa, pero durante el fran quismo estas fortalezas cobraron un especial valor simbólico que los vinculó al discurs o ultranacionalista de la dictadura.

  No fue solo simbólico, también se puede rastrear un importante valor económico al ligarlos al despegue turístico del país en la décad a de los sesenta, tanto en su dimensión visual y paisajística, como convertidos en instalac iones hoteleras. Para ello fue preciso acometer su restauración que conllevó en ocasiones profundas transformaciones del espacio arquitectónico.

  After centuries of abandonment, some Spanish castle s attracted interest due to their restoration in the context of the 19th centur y Romanticism. The 20th century gave them a certain legislative protection, but during F ranco's regime these fortresses acquired a special symbolic value that linked them to the ultra-nationalist discourse of the dictatorship. It was not only symbolic, but als o had an important economic value as they were linked to the country's tourist boom in t he 1960s, both in terms of their visual and landscaping value, as well as their conversion into hotel facilities. To this end, it was necessary to undertake their restoration, which sometimes required deep transformations of the architectural space.

  This research approaches these issues from a multid isciplinary perspective -thanks to archival, photographic, newspaper and textual so urces- based on a proposal of sig- nificant sampling in Castilla-La Mancha
