  Presentamos un simulador de subtítulos diseñado especialmente para el aprendizaje delenguas extranjeras. Un total de 36 estudiantes de tres cursos de lengua distintos(portugués, italiano y chino) utilizaron este software en clase. Mostramos lasactividades realizadas por los estudiantes y los resultados de la evaluación de suimplementación desde el punto de vista de profesores y estudiantes, teniendo en cuentalos siguientes indicadores: el nivel de aceptación del software y la percepción de lautilidad del software en el aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras. Los resultados de laimplementación sugieren que este tipo de herramienta ha sido muy bien aceptada porestudiantes y docentes, y la consideran muy útil y motivadora.Learning via Subtitling (LvS) es un simulador de subtítulos diseñado especialmentepara el aprendizaje de lenguas. Los docentes pueden utilizar esta herramienta desoftware para crear actividades en la que los estudiantes trabajen con subtítulos (losediten, completen, etc.) a partir de escenas de películas, documentales, Internet, etc.Este simulador se creó al amparo del proyecto europeo LEVIS, coordinado por laHellenic Open University de Grecia entre 2006 y 2009.

  We present a subtitle simulator specially designed for foreign language learning. A totalof 36 students from 3 different foreign language courses (Portuguese, Italian andChinese) used the LvS software in class. We present the activities done by the studentsand the evaluation results of the implementation from the students’ and the teachers’points of view taking into account the following indicators: the level of acceptance ofthe software and the perception of usefulness of the software for foreign language.Results from the implementation suggest that this kind of tool is highly accepted bystudents and teachers as they consider it very useful and motivating.Learning via Subtitling (LvS) is a subtitling simulator designed por language learning.Teachers use this software to create activities where students use subtitlers (studentsedit them, fill them up, etc.) from films, documentaries, Internet, etc. This simulator wasEU funded under the LEVIS project, coordinated by the Hellenic Open University(Greece) between 2006 and 2009.
