  Introducción: La cistitis Intersticial, catalogada como enfermedad rara, impacta de forma muy negativa en la vida laboral, familiar y social de las personas que padecen esta enfermedad. Objetivo principal: plasmar las vivencias y sentimientos de Merche en relación al proceso de la enfermedad, así como conocer si se ha sentido acompañada y apoyada por los profesionales y el sistema sanitario. Metodología: La información se obtuvo por medio de una entrevista en profundidad. Resultados principales: Los resultados giran en torno a las dificultades encontradas para acceder a un diagnóstico y el retraso del mismo. También emerge con fuerza el sentimiento de falta de apoyo y de confianza hacia el sistema sanitario y los especialistas que le trataron, así como una sensación de abandono por parte del sistema sanitario en relación al proceso vivido. Conclusión principal: A pesar de no sentirse apoyada por el sistema sanitario, destaca su positividad, resiliencia y el afrontamiento eficaz ante esta enfermedad, llegando a conseguir llevar una vida normal y llena de proyectos ilusionantes.

  Introduction: Interstitial cystitis, classified as a rare disease, has a very negative impact on the work, family and social life of people who suffer from this disease. Objective: to capture Merche's experiences and feelings in relation to the disease process, as well as to know if she has felt accompanied and supported by professionals and the health system. Methods: The information was obtained through a qualitative methodology conducting an in-depth interview. Results: The results revolve around the difficulties encountered in accessing a diagnosis and its delay. The feeling of lack of support and trust towards the health system and the specialists who treated him also emerges strongly, as well as a feeling of abandonment by the health system in relation to the process experienced. Conclusions: Despite not feeling supported by the health system, she highlights her positivity, resilience and effective coping with this disease, managing to lead a normal life full of exciting projects.
