Throughout his academic career, Luis Villoro reiterated non-existence of an authentic and original Mexican philosophy. From his perspective, a philosophical tradition has not existed in Mexico, because the philoso- phers of our country have not built a tradition. His idea of philosophy, understood as a rigorous and critical exercise, is marked not only by the analytical tradition, but above all by the thesis of philosophical normalization. But, contrary to his claims, he thought and discussed a multiplicity of issues, not only with reference to the Mexican reality, but also with the clarity that Mexican philosophers cannot think of said reality with the categories of European and Western philosophy. His thought and philosophical exercise supposes a dialogue with reality, it is imposed to him, it demands to be thou- ght. That is why here it is affirmed that his philosophy is a sample of Mexican philoso- phical thinking, in the written work of Luis Villoro there is a Mexican philosophy. The themes that he thought about with refe- rence to the Mexican reality are an example of an authentic and original contemporary Mexican philosophy, but above all sensitive, in function of liberation.
