Resumen de El influjo de Afrodita sobre los animales en el Himno homérico V

El objetivo del artículo es examinar la inclusión de los animales en la esfera de acción de la diosa Afrodita y lo que implica para su imagen en el Himno homérico V. Mientras que, a partir del siglo V a. C., la extensión del influjo de la diosa en los animales se hizo manifiesta en los textos, en la literatura griega arcaica, donde solo dioses y mortales son susceptibles de sentir su poder, el poema constituye una excepción. En nuestro examen trazamos los principales rasgos distintivos de la divinidad y las líneas generales del himno, lo que sirve, a su vez, para contextualizar el análisis de los pasajes concretos que merecen especial atención, aquellos en los que se evidencia el poder de Afrodita sobre los animales: h.Ven., 1-6 y 68-74. A partir de ellos se analiza en particular el motivo de Afrodita como señora de los animales (πότνια θηρῶν). Por último, se extraen una serie de conclusiones.

The aim of the article is to examine the presence of animals in the sphere of activity of the goddess Aphrodite and its implications for her depiction in the Homeric Hymn V. From 5th century BC onwards the extent of the goddess’ influence on animals becomes evident in texts; nevertheless, in Early Greek literature, where only gods and mortals are capable of feeling her power, the poem is an exception. This study provides an outline of the distinctive traits of the divinity and of the hymn itself, which will be useful to contextualize the analysis of certain passages that deserve particular attention, namely those where Aphrodite’s power over animals is disclosed: h.Ven., 1-6 and 68-74. These excerpts will be the basis for a detailed analysis of the motif of Aphrodite as mistress of animals (πότνια θηρῶν). Finally, a set of conclusions is drawn.
