    El present article és fruït d’una beca d’investigació concedida el 2010 per la Secció de Ciències Socials de l’Institut Menorquí d’Estudis, titulada El mestratge de la família Comas. L’estudi presenta les biografies del pare Gabriel Comas i dels seus cinc fills, dedicats tots a l’ensenyament; analitza la notable formació rebuda en el marc de la Institución Libre de Enseñanza i les importants contribucions que van fer al món de la pedagogia, des de la teoria i des de la pràctica. Analitzam els lligams que Gabriel, Margarita, Anna, Joan, Maria i Conxa mantingueren amb l’illa de Menorca i el trencament que suposà per a tots ells la guerra civil, l’exili i els processos de depuració

    The present article is the result of a research scholarship that the Social Sci-ences Section of the Institut Menorquí d’Estudis granted in 2010, entitled The mastery of the Comas family. The study presents the biographies of the father Gabriel Comas and his five children who were all teachers; it analyses the remarkable academic training they receive in the setting of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza and the important contributions they made to the pedagogy world, both theoretical and practical. We analyse the bonds that tie Gabriel, Margarita, Anna, Joan, Maria and Conxa to the island of Menorca and what it meant to them the break of the civil war, the subsequent exile and the trials without guarantees.
