    Esta segunda etapa del epistolario de José ortega y Gasset y María de Maeztu se desarrolla principalmente entre los años 1937 y 1938. Es la etapa del inicio del exilio de ambos protagonistas, que han huido de Madrid al inicio de la Guerra civil española ante el riesgo que corrían sus vidas. María de Maeztu se encuentra en argentina y el contenido de las cartas se centra en las informaciones de primera mano que le proporciona Ortega sobre la situación del conflicto del filósofo con el diario La nación, de la que era asiduo colaborador, y la evolución de la editorial Espasa Calpe Argentina, en el contexto del cambio que se estaba produciendo en el país, respecto al exilio español. Encontramos en estas cartas el lado más humano y personal de Ortega ante la compleja situación que ambos estaban atravesando.

    This second stage of the epistolary of José Ortega y Gasset and María de Maeztu takes place mainly between the years 1937 and 1938. It is the stage of the beginning of the exile of both protagonists, who have fled Madrid at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War due to the risk who ran their lives. María de Maeztu is in Argentina and the content of the letters focuses on the first-hand information provided by Ortega on the situation of the philosopher's conflict with the newspaper La Nación, of which he was a regular contributor, and the evolution of the Editorial Espasa Calpe Argentina, in the context of the change that was taking place in the country, regarding the Spanish exile. We find in these letters the most human and personal side of Ortega in the face of the complex situation that both were going through
