Relación entre la percepción de padres y madres respecto a la violencia escolar y las competencias sociales de sus hijos dentro del contexto educacional chileno

    El fenómeno de la violencia escolar es un tema de creciente interés mundial dado los efectos adversos que genera. La investigación tuvo como objetivo conocer la relación entre percepción que los padres y madres tienen sobre la violencia en colegios y las competencias sociales de sus hijos. Se llevó a cabo una investigación descriptivo correlacional de carácter transversal, se aplicaron los instrumentos Clima Escolar Infantil y Primaria (ECEIP-F) y la Escala de Competencia Social (PKBS). La muestra estuvo compuesta por 176 padres y madre, edad media de 37,37 (DS 5,8). Dentro de los principales resultados encontramos que los problemas de convivencia escolar correlacionaron positiva y significativamente con la familia (,202**); el colegio (,355**); la sociedad (,342**) y los medios de comunicación (,180**), con respecto a las competencias sociales percibidas, no presentarían correlaciones significativas con la violencia. Se puede concluir que los responsables del clima de violencia escolar serían la familia, colegio, sociedad y medios de comunicación, sin relación con las competencias sociales de los niños, por tanto, este fenómeno sería a pesar de la víctima. Estos resultados dan cuenta de la multifactorialidad de la violencia escolar y de la necesidad de seguir avanzando en el entendimiento de esta.

    The phenomenon of school violence is a topic of growing global interest given the adverse effects it generates. The aim of the research was to determine the relationship between the perception that fathers and mothers have about violence in schools and the social skills of their children. Cross-sectional correlational descriptive research was carried out, and the instruments for Child and Primary School Climate (ECEIP-F) and the Social Competence Scale (PKBS) were applied. The sample consisted of 176 fathers and mothers, mean age 37.37 (SD 5.8). Among the main results, we found that school coexistence problems correlated positively and significantly with the family (.202**); the school (.355**); society (.342**), and the media (.180**), concerning perceived social competencies, would not present significant correlations with violence. It can be concluded that those responsible for the climate of school violence would be the family, school, society, and the media, unrelated to children's social skills; therefore, this phenomenon would be despite the victim. These results show the multifactorial of school violence and the need to continue advancing in its understanding.
