Resumen de Correlación entre el test de endosmosis (HOST) y otros parámetros de calidad espermática en semen criopreservado de búfalos Murrah

A. Quintero Moreno, C. Osorio Meléndez, D. González Bermejo, H. Nava, J. Rubio Guillén

  • The present study was conduced to determine the correlation of Hypo-osmotic swelling test (HOST) with routine sperm evaluation parameters of frozen-thawed semen (FTS) of Murrah buffalos. Percentages of sperm vitality (PV), acrosomal integrity (PAI), progressive motility (PMP) and rapid (PER)/ static (PEE) sperm associated with HOST positive sperm percentage were evaluated in 15 straws of 5 buffalo bulls. One part of FTS was used for the evaluation of sperm motility with Sperm Class analyzer®, while the other part was centrifugated and diluted with Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) to use in the evaluation of others parameters, and HOST preparation (osmolarity: 102 mOsm/L). Statistical analysis revealed a significant correlation between PER (positve, p<0.01), PEE (negative, p<0.01), PV (positive, p<0.05) and percentage of HOST. It was inferred that HOST could be a valuable method for routine evaluation of FTS.
