Resumen de Determinants of motivation-driven entrepreneurship: an analysis from Gem Data

Mabel Pisá Bó, José Fernando López Muñoz, Ignacio Mira Solves, Josefina Novejarque Civera

  • This paper develops and validates a model for predicting entrepreneurial motivation based on the theory of planned behaviour (TPB) and using up-to-date data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) project. Since 2019, the GEM questionnaireincludes a wider range of options for starting a new business. Results of this study show an extended structural model for the new conceptualization of motivational drivers.Furthermore, results provide evidence of the importance of social norms on perceived control. Policymakers should be focused on reinforcing those skills and competencies that increase self-efficacy belief, enable the individual capability for action and providea better understanding of business opportunities in the contemporary environment.
