Resumen de Comparación del transcriptoma muscular de cerdos ibéricos puros y cruzados con duroc al nacimiento

  • Phenotypic differences in productive traits and meat quality have been reported between pure and Duroc-crossbreed Iberian pigs. The muscle transcriptome (Biceps femoris) of nine purebred Iberian and ten Duroc x Iberian crossbred pigs slaughtered at birth was studied to better understand causal molecular mechanisms. Several differentially expressed genes were identified (i.e. APOM and SLC2A4) as well as pathways involved in lipid metabolism and muscular development, such as adipogenesis pathway. Also, important regulatory factors such as EGR2 and FOXO1were differentially expressed between pure and Duroc-crossbreed pigs. These results contribute to the better understanding of mechanisms underlying productive and meat quality differences between purebred and crossbred Iberian pigs.
