    A retirada estadounidense de Afganistán e ou retorno dos talibáns a Cabul en agosto de 2021 suscitaron reaccións contrastadas: asombro e estrañeza en Occidente, consternación nos aliados de Estados Unidos, satisfación tinguida de preocupación nos países limítrofes ou próximos a Afganistán, e mesmo xúbilo nos círculos xihadistas. Estas reaccións son a proba de que o desastre estadounidense en Afganistán é un acontecemento de considerable importancia porque cambia o equilibrio de poder e baralla as cartas a escala rexional e internacional. Tras lembrar brevemente a historia de Afganistán, este texto analiza as repercusións xeopolíticas da retirada estadounidense nos países fronteirizos con Afganistán e nos países próximos e afastados

    The hasty and chaotic withrawal of the USA from Afghanistan and the swift return of the Taliban to power, in August 2021, have triggered differenciated reactions: shock and disbelief in the West, disarray among America’s regional allies, satisfaction in Russia and China, fears and concerns in the Neighbouring countries of Afghanistan and even jubilation in the ranks of Djihadi movements in the Middle East, in the Sahel and elsewhere. This is ample proof that the American « débâcle » in Afghanistan is a momentus event which will have significant repercussions in the balance of power, and reshuffle geopolitical cards. The paper describes briefly the history of Afghanistan before the American invasion in the first part before embarking on the analysis of the impact of the American withrawal and the return of the Taliban on the regional and international geopolitics.

    Le retrait américain d’Afghanistan et le retour des Talibans à Kaboul, en août 2021, ont suscité des réactions contrastées: stupeur et sidération en Occident, désarroi dans les pays alliés de l’Amérique, une satisfaction teintée d’inquiétude dans les pays frontaliers ou proches de l’Afghanistan, voire une liesse dans les milieux jihadistes. Ces réactions constituent la preuve que la débâcle américaine en Afghanistan constitue un événement d’une portée considérable car elle modifie les rapports de force et rebat les cartes à l’échelle régionale et internationale.

    Après avoir rappelé brièvement l’histoire de l’Afghanistan, ce texte analyse les répercussions géopolitiques du retrait américain sur les pays frontaliers de l’Afghanistan et sur les pays proches et lointains
