El presente trabajo describe los orígenes de la nefrología pediátrica tanto a nivel nacional como en el Hospital Infantil Miguel Servet, la evolución de las actividades científicas y asistenciales realizadas en este campo, y sobre todo el compromiso y participación de la Unidad con las instituciones y la sociedad desde el inicio hasta la actualidad

This article describes the origins of pediatric nephrology, both at a national level and in the Children´s Hospital Miguel Servet of Zaragoza, and the evolution of the scientific and medical activities done in this specialty along the years. It also presents the commitment and participation of the pediatric nephrology unit with different institutions of the society since its birth until the present time.
