Resumen de Análisis composicional del adverbio "siempre"

Ignacio Bosque

  • In this article, eight different interpretations of Sp. siempre ‘always’ are distinguished. It is argued that all of them share universal quantification as a common semantic component, so that differences come from the quantified variable. The latter information is obtained from the verbal predicate, some of its arguments, or other elements external to the sentence. It is argued that the separation between shared and unshared components in all these interpretations of the adverb siempre is somehow parallel to a similar distinction currently drawn in present-day interpretations of grammaticalization processes.
